Pitch And Rise

Context

Accelerators and investors follow many startups at once. Pitch And Rise gathers founder updates, evaluation criteria, and progress reporting so every stakeholder works from the same picture instead of scattered decks and emails.

The challenge

Founders, mentors, and investors each need a different slice of the same data, with strictly different permissions. Building one rigid REST endpoint per screen would have been unmaintainable as the evaluation model kept evolving.

What I built

• Designed a GraphQL API on NestJS so each role fetches exactly the fields it is allowed to see, in a single round trip.
• Modelled evaluations, milestones, and reporting cycles in MongoDB with a schema that tolerates criteria changing over time.
• Built the Next.js interface for founder updates, evaluation scoring, and stakeholder dashboards.
• Enforced role-based access at the resolver level rather than in the UI, so permissions cannot be bypassed by a crafted request.
• Added Datadog dashboards and alerting on GraphQL latency and error rates to catch expensive queries early.
