Parking discovery and booking platform

Park On Time

Parking discovery platform that helps drivers find available parking faster with a reliable mobile-friendly booking flow.

Park On Time interface
  • NestJS
  • Angular
  • MongoDB
  • RabbitMQ
  • Kubernetes

Context

Park On Time helps drivers find and reserve a parking space before they arrive, which means the availability shown on the map has to reflect reality at the moment the driver looks at it.

The challenge

Availability changes constantly and comes from several sources, so the system needed to absorb bursts of updates without blocking the search API or showing drivers a space that has just been taken.

What I built

  • Built the Angular front end for search, map results, and the reservation flow, designed mobile-first for drivers already on the road.
  • Developed the NestJS services behind search, availability, and bookings on top of MongoDB.
  • Used RabbitMQ to decouple availability ingestion from the read path, so bursts of updates never slow down search.
  • Containerised the services and deployed them on Kubernetes with health checks and horizontal scaling for peak hours.
  • Kept the search response payload small so map results render quickly on mobile connections.

Outcome

Drivers get availability they can trust before they set off, and the platform absorbs traffic peaks without degrading the search experience.
